Vote For Sport

About the Campaign

Sport is never a considered or debated issue come election time; however we think this needs to change.

On May 5th 2011 Scotland will elect the Government that will take Scotland up to and beyond what is arguably the most exciting time ever in Scottish sport, including the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. This is Scotland's greatest chance to get it right, to deliver a lasting legacy from this excitement and to recognise that sport is not just an income generator and medal winner - it is a vehicle by which to improve and enhance our nation.

Sportsmen and women across Scotland represent nearly one fifth of the total population, and in some constituencies we can really make a difference.

But who really wants to take their time to make a difference in Scotland? Who wants to help our 12,000 sports clubs and 150,000 volunteers? That's what we're asking those individuals who are standing in the 2011 elections.

The Scottish Sports Alliance along with Scotland's Governing Bodies of sport are calling on all sportsmen and women, participants, coaches, officials and supporters to pledge to use their vote.

Vote for the candidate that will fight for sport in Scotland; that will stand up and recognise that our children deserve the right to play, that our older adults deserve the right to participate; that this nation deserves an active future.

Vote for a candidate that recognises sport is a vehicle to deliver real change in this country and not just a quick electoral gain.
